Aims and Objectives of the 2017 DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

YMCC’s development program for this year has been designed to enable keen and talented athletes to improve their individual and team skills.

Sessions will be age appropriate and will include grouping of athletes according to their hockey development needs. These groups will be flexible and reviewed as the coaches see fit.

Junior players attending these sessions are expected to be motivated young hockey players who should be enthusiastic, punctual, and keen to learn. These sessions will be led by members of our top hockey squads both men and women.

Preseason Skills Sessions:

These will run from Thursday Feb 2 until Thursday March 2 and consist of 5 turf sessions for all junior players.

Year 4 to 6 : 4pm to 520pm.

Year 7 to 12 : 530pm to 7pm.

Coaches will be sourced from Parent/coaches and from our Men’s and Women’s Premier squads.

Drill stations will be allocated to each coach, they then devise their own drill and progress that drill over the 5 week program. Larger area and less number of drill stations for the older group. The aim of these clinics is to improve the skills of the participants before grading and season commences.
