Calendar

Welcome Back / Bring a Friend Day – Wednesday 27th March 5pm

The season starts Wed 27th March with Welcome Back and Bring a Friend Day.

This is optional, but a great chance to try your gear for size and fit, interest friends to come and have a try and to re-connect with friends from previous years or make new ones.

We run a short and casual training from 5pm, followed by a sausage sizzle.

Free hot hot dogs, spare sticks available. Training will be light as many kids won't have shin or mouth guards yet.

Please RSVP here and also volunteers to help out if you can https://form.jotform.co/90537696268876.

J1/2 Group Training – Wednesday  3rd and 10th April, 4pm

An optional group training for all J1/2s registered with YMCC, (irrespective of school) will be run at Perry Lakes. This is open to all and run with assistance from the prospective J1/2 coaches for the 2019 season. Training is from 4pm to 5pm and is arranged to allow kids to start getting into the swing even while teams are still being formed and newcomers are joining.

Teams

Teams are typically mixed boys and girls and are formed from children registered to play with YMCC.

Where preferred, teams may be school based, or if not preferred, mixed school YMCC teams.

Teams will may wear YMCC uniform, or, if preferred a school uniform.

School based teams must appoint a team coach and manager who will liaise with the J 1/2 Coordinator (Keira Bury). YMCC can offer assistance in coaching with training plans if required.

Each team will receive at the beginning of the season a bag of balls, bibs and cones. These must be returned to the J 1/2 Coordinator at the end of the season.

School Coordinators

Ideally, each school entering a team in the J 1/2 (or the J3/4) completion will have a coordinator (volunteers welcome, check with Keira Bury if you are interested) to answer any questions that the parents may have. They will be responsible for organizing the teams and appointing a coach and manager. All players must be registered through the YMCC Hockey Club website.

Team Training

Default Training for YMCC J1/2 Teams is Wednesday, 4pm at Perry Lakes starting from 17th April (following the group sessions). Individual teams, however, are welcome to select a time, day, or location which suits them. Typically many of the school based teams will train at their school, before or after the school day, however they are welcome at Perry Lakes too.

In cases where team training time does not suit, children are always welcome to come and train with one of the mixed YMCC teams. Check with Keira Bury for info on when these teams are training.
